Why the Community Center Matters

The Stardew Valley Community Center sits abandoned when you arrive in Pelican Town. Completing it — by donating items across 30 bundles in 6 rooms — is the game's primary long-term goal and rewards you with town upgrades that meaningfully improve daily life.

The challenge: many required items are seasonal, rare, or take specific conditions to obtain. Missing a season means waiting a full year. This guide covers every bundle and how to plan around the time-sensitive items.

Room 1: Crafts Room (Forest Bundle Room)

Completing the Crafts Room repairs the bridge to the forest area south of town (unlocking the Blackberry area and a 500g reward chest).

Spring Foraging Bundle

Collect all 4 in Spring:

  • Daffodil (forage, Spring fields)
  • Dandelion (forage, Spring fields)
  • Leek (forage, Spring fields)
  • Wild Horseradish (forage, Spring fields)

Tip: These all appear in the first week of Spring 1. Walk north and east of town to forage.

Summer Foraging Bundle

  • Grape (forage, Summer — also available from vineyard later)
  • Spice Berry (forage, Summer)
  • Sweet Pea (forage, Summer)

Fall Foraging Bundle

  • Chanterelle (forage, Fall forest)
  • Common Mushroom (forage, Fall forest)
  • Red Mushroom (mine floors 80-120, or Fall forest)
  • Wild Plum (forage, Fall)

Winter Foraging Bundle

  • Crystal Fruit (forage, Winter — or from shops/trading)
  • Holly (forage, Winter)
  • Nautilus Shell (beach, Winter)
  • Snow Yam (artifact spot digging, Winter)
  • Winter Root (artifact spot digging, Winter)
  • Crocus (forage, Winter)

Construction Bundle

  • Wood ×99
  • Stone ×99
  • Hardwood ×10 (chop large stumps in the Secret Forest — access via the repaired bridge after completing this bundle... buy Hardwood from Robin if needed early)

Exotic Foraging Bundle

  • Coconut (forage, desert — requires bus repair first, OR Traveling Merchant)
  • Cactus Fruit (forage, desert — same)
  • Cave Carrot (mine forage)
  • Red Mushroom (mine or forest)
  • Purple Mushroom (mine floors 81-119)
  • Maple Syrup (tap maple tree, 7-8 days)
  • Oak Resin (tap oak tree, 7-8 days)
  • Pine Tar (tap pine tree, 5-6 days)
  • Morel (forage, Summer — underground mine area)

Watch: Coconut and Cactus Fruit require desert access. If you haven't repaired the bus yet, the Traveling Merchant (Fridays/Sundays, south of farm) can sell both.

Room 2: Pantry (Farm Bundle Room)

Completing the Pantry restores the greenhouse — the most valuable Community Center reward. The greenhouse lets you grow any crop any season.

Spring Crops Bundle

  • Parsnip (plant Spring 1, 4 days)
  • Green Bean (plant Spring, 10 days)
  • Cauliflower (plant Spring, 12 days)
  • Potato (plant Spring, 6 days)

All four are available from Pierre's from Day 1. Plant immediately for easy Spring Year 1 completion.

Summer Crops Bundle

  • Tomato (plant Summer)
  • Hot Pepper (plant Summer)
  • Blueberry (plant Summer — regrows)
  • Melon (plant Summer, 12 days — needed for quality bundle too)

Fall Crops Bundle

  • Corn (plant Summer or Fall — spans both seasons)
  • Eggplant (plant Fall)
  • Pumpkin (plant Fall)
  • Yam (plant Fall)

Quality Crops Bundle

Requires gold-quality (★) crops. Use quality fertilizer or the Agriculturist profession:

  • Parsnip ×5 (gold quality)
  • Melon ×5 (gold quality)
  • Pumpkin ×5 (gold quality)
  • Corn ×5 (gold quality)

Tip: Use Basic Fertilizer from the start — it gives a chance of silver/gold quality. Speed-Gro doesn't help here.

Animal Bundle

  • Large Milk (from happy cow)
  • Large Egg (from happy chicken)
  • Large Goat Milk (from happy goat)
  • Wool (from happy sheep)
  • Duck Feather (from happy duck — rare drop, ~1/4 chance daily)

Time consideration: You need a Coop (Chickens, Ducks) and Barn (Cows, Goats, Sheep). Build early and keep animals happy (daily petting + feeding). Duck Feather is the rarest — keep a duck from Summer Year 1.

Artisan Bundle

  • Truffle Oil (pig truffle → oil maker)
  • Cloth (wool → loom)
  • Goat Cheese (goat milk → cheese press)
  • Cheese (cow milk → cheese press)
  • Honey (place bee house, any season except winter)
  • Jelly (any fruit → preserves jar)
  • Apple (apple tree, Fall)
  • Apricot (apricot tree, Spring)
  • Orange (orange tree, Summer)
  • Peach (peach tree, Summer)
  • Pomegranate (pomegranate tree, Fall)
  • Wine (any fruit → keg)

Tree timing: Fruit trees take 28 days to mature. Plant all 5 tree types as early as possible — Spring Year 1 for apple and apricot, Summer for orange and peach, Fall for pomegranate (though Fall is tight for pomegranate Year 1).

Room 3: Fish Tank (Ocean/River Bundle Room)

Completing the Fish Tank repairs the bridge at the quarry (south of mine entrance).

River Fish Bundle

  • Catfish (river, Spring/Fall, rainy days, 6am–midnight)
  • Shad (river, Spring/Summer/Fall)
  • Tiger Trout (river, Fall/Winter, 6am–7pm)
  • Sunfish (river, Spring/Summer, 6am–7pm)

Lake Fish Bundle

  • Largemouth Bass (mountain lake, 6am–7pm)
  • Carp (mountain lake, any time)
  • Bullhead (mountain lake)
  • Sturgeon (mountain lake, Summer/Winter, 6am–7pm)

Sturgeon is time-sensitive — Summer or Winter only. Catch one in Summer Year 1.

Ocean Fish Bundle

  • Sardine (ocean, Spring/Fall/Winter, 6am–7pm)
  • Tuna (ocean, Summer/Winter, 6am–7pm)
  • Red Snapper (ocean, Summer/Fall)
  • Tilapia (ocean, Summer/Fall, 6am–2pm)

Night Fishing Bundle

  • Walleye (river, Fall, rainy, 12pm–2am)
  • Bream (river, any season, 6pm–2am)
  • Eel (ocean, Spring/Fall, rainy, 4pm–2am)

Eel is the most commonly missed — Spring or Fall, rainy day, evening. Check the forecast.

Specialty Fish Bundle

  • Pufferfish (ocean, Summer, 12pm–4pm)
  • Ghostfish (mine pond, floors 20/60, any time)
  • Sandfish (desert, any time — requires bus)
  • Woodskip (forest pond — requires bridge repair in Crafts Room first)

Crab Pot Bundle

Place crab pots in fresh water and salt water:

  • Lobster, Crayfish, Crab, Cockle, Mussel, Shrimp, Snail, Periwinkle, Oyster, Clam

Any mix of these works. Crab pots auto-collect every morning.

Room 4: Boiler Room (Mine Bundle Room)

Completing the Boiler Room repairs the mine carts (fast travel between mine entrance, blacksmith, bus stop, and quarry).

Blacksmith's Bundle

  • Copper Bar ×1
  • Iron Bar ×1
  • Gold Bar ×1

All from smelting ore in the Furnace. Available by Spring Year 1 with mine progress.

Geologist's Bundle

  • Quartz (mine floors 1-39 or cave)
  • Earth Crystal (mine floors 1-39)
  • Frozen Tear (mine floors 40-79)
  • Fire Quartz (mine floors 80-120)

Adventurer's Bundle

  • Slime ×99 (farm Slimes in mine floors 1-39)
  • Bat Wing ×10 (farm Bats in mine floors 41-79)
  • Solar Essence (farm Ghosts in floors 51-79 or Squid Kids 80-120)
  • Void Essence (farm Shadow Brutes 80-120)

Farm efficiently: On a rainy day when you can't forage, spend the entire day in the mine farming monster drops.

Room 5: Bulletin Board (Friendship Bundle Room)

Completing the Bulletin Board gives the Friendship reward (everyone gets +1 heart) and friendship-building bonuses.

Chef's Bundle

  • Maple Syrup (tap maple tree)
  • Fiddlehead Fern (forage, Summer)
  • Truffle (from pig)
  • Poppy (plant Summer)
  • Maki Roll (cook — Seaweed or Algae + Rice)
  • Fried Egg (cook — 1 Egg)

Dye Bundle

  • Red Mushroom
  • Sea Urchin (beach, Summer)
  • Sunflower (plant Summer/Fall)
  • Duck Feather (from duck)
  • Aquamarine (mine gem)
  • Red Cabbage ⚠️ (see warning below)

Red Cabbage Warning: Red Cabbage is only available from Pierre's shop starting in Summer Year 2. This single item is the most common reason players can't complete the Community Center in Year 1. Solutions:

  • Check the Traveling Merchant every Friday and Sunday — she can sell Red Cabbage in Year 1
  • If you get it early from the Traveling Merchant, Year 1 completion is possible

Field Research Bundle

  • Purple Mushroom (mine floors 81-119)
  • Nautilus Shell (beach, Winter)
  • Chub (mountain lake or river, any season)
  • Frozen Geode (mine floors 41-79)

Fodder Bundle

  • Wheat ×10
  • Hay ×10
  • Apple ×1

Enchanter's Bundle

  • Oak Resin (tap oak tree)
  • Wine (any fruit in keg)
  • Rabbit's Foot (from rabbit — rare drop)
  • Pomegranate (pomegranate tree, Fall)

Room 6: Vault (Money Bundle Room)

Completing the Vault repairs the bus to the Calico Desert (unlocking the Skull Cavern, Sandy's shop, and the desert warp shrine).

The Vault simply requires money donations:

  • 2,500g bundle
  • 5,000g bundle
  • 10,000g bundle
  • 25,000g bundle

Total: 42,500g. Focus on farm income from Spring Year 1 — artisan goods (wine, cheese, truffle oil) are the fastest path to accumulating this amount.

Fastest Completion Path

Year 1 (Ambitious but Possible)

Spring: Plant all Spring Crops bundle crops Day 1. Forage Spring Foraging bundle. Check Traveling Merchant Fri/Sun for Red Cabbage.

Summer: Plant Summer crops. Fish Pufferfish 12pm–4pm. Buy Sturgeon access. Plant Sunflower. Forage Fiddlehead Fern.

Fall: Plant Fall crops. Catch Walleye (rainy day). Harvest fruit trees. Tap trees for syrup/resin.

Winter: Complete foraging bundles. Farm monsters for Adventurer's bundle. Accumulate Vault gold.

Year 2 (Relaxed but Complete)

Most players complete the Community Center mid-Year 2. The main benefits of not rushing: you can play naturally without guide-chasing, enjoy the seasonal content organically, and the Red Cabbage arrives in Summer Year 2 without stress.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

How do I complete the Community Center in Stardew Valley?

The Community Center has 6 rooms, each containing bundles of items to donate. Complete all bundles in a room to restore it and earn rewards. Complete all 6 rooms to fully restore the Community Center. The most time-sensitive items are seasonal crops and fish — plan ahead or you'll wait a full year for missed items. Year 2 is a realistic goal for most players; Year 1 is achievable with advance planning.

What is the hardest bundle in Stardew Valley?

The Vault (requiring 42,500g total), the Bulletin Board (requiring many cooked dishes and friendship items), and the Fish Tank (requiring rare seasonal fish) are considered the hardest bundles. The specific hardest item is usually the Red Cabbage (Summer Year 2+ from Pierre's shop) — it's the single most common reason players can't complete the Community Center in Year 1.

Can I complete the Community Center in Year 1?

Yes, but it requires planning. The main obstacle is Red Cabbage, which first appears in Pierre's shop in Summer of Year 2 — unless you use the Traveling Merchant (who appears Fridays and Sundays south of your farm and can occasionally sell Red Cabbage in Year 1). Check the Traveling Merchant every Friday and Sunday from the start. Everything else is technically Year 1 achievable with good planning.

Should I choose Community Center or Joja Mart in Stardew Valley?

Almost all players choose the Community Center — it's the intended 'good ending' that restores Pelican Town, unlocks all the same features (greenhouse, bus, bridge, mine cart) through natural gameplay, and is more satisfying narratively. Joja Mart lets you buy upgrades for money, bypassing the bundle system, but it's considered the 'corporate' path and changes the ending.

What does completing the Community Center give you?

Each bundle awards an immediate prize (items, seeds, money). Each completed room unlocks a town upgrade. Completing the full Community Center triggers a town celebration cutscene, fully restores the building, unlocks the Movie Theater (replacing Joja Mart), and is considered the main 'good ending' of Year 1/2 goals.
