Decide Which Sugar You Actually Need
A stockpile of syrup cannot replace white sugar requested by another recipe. Before filling the Sugar Mill, list the sugar products needed by the orders and downstream recipes you intend to start before your next visit. Subtract usable finished stock and queued goods that will finish in time. Do not assign the same bag to two tasks.
Use the Dairy stock worksheet for the inventory method, keeping each sugar product separate. A chosen buffer can help with surprises, but there is no single stock target suitable for every farm. This guide adds the sugar-specific decisions: cane reservation and allocating work between mills.
Three Reference Recipes
| Product | Unlock level | Sugarcane per item | Standard production time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brown sugar | 7 | 1 | 20 min |
| White sugar | 13 | 2 | 40 min |
| Syrup | 18 | 4 | 90 min |
Recipe quantities, levels and standard timers were checked on 2026-11-03 against the community Sugar Mill table, white sugar entry and syrup entry. The table is a reference for these three products, not an official or exhaustive current-version database. Use the recipe and timer displayed in your game; mastery and temporary effects can change times. Growing the cane is not included in these processing times.
Reserve Cane Before You Queue
Calculate available cane = current cane − replanting reserve − cane committed to other uses. Future harvests are not ingredients you can enqueue now. If you have 14 cane and choose to keep 4 for replanting, only 10 are available to this plan. Choose the reserve from the fields you intend to replant, rather than copying a fixed reserve from another farm.
Suppose you need 2 brown sugar, 2 white sugar and 1 syrup. The batch consumes 2 × 1 + 2 × 2 + 1 × 4 = 10 cane. With only 8 cane available, the whole batch cannot be queued yet: postpone part, reduce the planned demand or obtain more cane. Do not consume your seed reserve accidentally.
The crop guide explains field planning. The field-crop calculator compares selected crops; it does not schedule the Sugar Mill.
One Mill: Check When Each Product Becomes Available
Assume an empty mill, standard timers, all recipes unlocked, 10 available cane and capacity to enqueue all five jobs. If brown sugar is needed first, one possible sequence is:
| Job | Cumulative finish time |
|---|---|
| Brown sugar 1 | 20 min |
| Brown sugar 2 | 40 min |
| White sugar 1 | 80 min |
| White sugar 2 | 120 min |
| Syrup | 210 min |
The batch takes 210 minutes, or 3 hours 30 minutes. Moving syrup to the front keeps the total the same but delays the first brown sugar until 110 minutes. That can matter more than keeping a machine busy. If an existing job has 15 minutes left, add those 15 minutes to the new jobs' finish times.
A four-hour break leaves 30 minutes after this batch finishes; an eight-hour break leaves 270 minutes. These are conditional timing examples, not guaranteed production or earnings. If you cannot enqueue five jobs, use the capacity you own and return to add work. If your in-game timers differ, recalculate using those values.
Two Owned Mills: Split Queues, Not Ingredients
Community machine references list the second mill at level 76. Check the in-game shop; plan a second queue only after you actually own a ready second mill. More slots on the first mill do not create a second processing lane.
For the same batch, an illustrative split is:
| Mill | Jobs in order | Finish times on that mill |
|---|---|---|
| A | Brown sugar, brown sugar, white sugar | 20, 40, 80 min |
| B | White sugar, syrup | 40, 130 min |
All five items finish by 130 minutes, assuming both mills start empty together, have sufficient slots, use the reference timers and share the same 10 available cane without double-counting it. This illustrates a feasible split, not a universal optimum or a recommendation to buy a mill regardless of budget. Different deadlines, current jobs or mastery can change the useful allocation.
Before Leaving the Farm
- Reserve cane for replanting and other uses; check each sugar recipe separately.
- Put urgent ingredients where they finish before their downstream jobs need them.
- Count actual slots and the remaining time of current jobs on each owned mill.
- Compare the last finish time with your return time; avoid making unwanted syrup solely to fill hours.
- Leave suitable Barn space for collection and adjust the next batch from actual consumption.
